Trucker Strike Delays Arrival of High School Graduation Announcements

proclaimed the thick print
on the second page
of the local newspaper

National Emergency Declared by President Following Nuclear Meltdown

whispered the fine print
on the forty-second page
of the local newspaper

the obituaries
also noted
a minor loss

and cheap words
searched for
a missing elephant

but all of this
was overlooked
by the adolescent
comic-reader
and his
great-aunt
