The Hangman's Tree

in the Open Meadow
'neath the Shadow of the Sun
was planted by the Moping Breeze
a baby Hangman's Tree

he Slowly Grew
and Branches Fair were visited by Day
by Night a Shelter from the Ground
for Sparrow's Rest and Play

but while he Aged as Nature's Hope
in England Aged as well
the Downfall of Society
a Ruffian from Hell

who soon controlled The Underground
and teased the London Cops
Havoc Plunder all around
too Cautious to be Caught

until a Greedy Traitor
revenging Heartfelt Wrongs
in Secrecy revealed the Plans
and the Master Thief was Done

they dragged him to the Barren North
and Found a Robust Tree
from which a Coiled Rope was strung
bringing Death and Destiny

The Hangman's Tree The Hangman's Corpse
brought to this World as One
costrangled on that Fateful Day
Forever lost and gone
