dreaming of you

i awake with a start
to a cold empty bed
and realize that you
were only a dream

laughing together
scheming together
being with you
making the world our own

today there is no laugheter
no scheming
i only wait for you
counting the days

until my dreams
combine with yours
until our hearts
again fuse as one

come to me
teach me to smile
hold my hand
lift me again
