airport

we rush to the airport early
leaving time for everything
that could have gone wrong

they are busier than average
but we enter the security line
before the bus of Japanese tourists

i wait with you
start saying goodbye
when it's almost your turn

you hand him the papers
as i step out of line
step behind that glass panel

did i give you one last kiss?
one of them was the last
but at the time it was but another

past the checkpoint
you gather the belongings
calm the kids

waving
crying
blowing kisses

each morning   i come in peace   with one final kiss   looking for you   castle in the mist   Bakery Square   dreaming of you   airport   black and white   It must have been a dozen years since we last spoke.   Trudging down the street.   one more day   my guitar hands   what a night.   Why did they need both the Atlantic and the Pacific?   as this morning's light   the king
